BIOGRAPHY

Pianist Xiaolu Zang is gaining international recognition for his “deepest musical understanding, highest precision and virtuosity, great inner creative power, and an almost unbelievable colorfulness of sound” (ZF Kunststiftung). A First Prize and Audience Prize winner at the Maria Canals International Music Competition and Second Prize laureate at Santander, he has performed at major venues including the Palau de la Música Catalana, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Regentenbau Bad Kissingen, Salle Cortot, and Teatro Municipal de Santiago.

Based in Hannover, where he studies with Prof. Arie Vardi, Xiaolu’s repertoire ranges from Bach to contemporary and cross-genre composers such as Kapustin, with a strong focus on the German-Austrian Classical and Romantic tradition and early 20th-century works. Recent and upcoming highlights include his recital debut at Palau de la Música, Tchaikovsky’s Concerto No. 1 with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic under José Antonio Molina at the National Theater Eduardo Brito, multiple recital tours in Spain and Latin America, and collaborations with major Spanish orchestras and leading conductors including Gustavo Gimeno and Vasily Petrenko.
